‘Something Wonderful for MERU’ was a one day inclusive indoor festival of music and creativity organised by Connect & Create, in Support of MERU on Saturday 16th November. The festival was held at Pereira Hall, Leatherhead Court, Woodlands Road, Leatherhead, starting at 1.00pm and going onto midnight.

It was an incredible event with over 160 volunteers and musicians taking part, including 2 stages featuring live bands plus poetry, workshops, drumming, face-painting and an appearance by MERU’s favourite Dalek. We are also delighted that MERU’s patron of 25 years, Sir Richard Stilgoe, was also able to drop in with his wife Annabel and enjoyed the music, even joining in with some of the audience participation and singing along with a 60 strong choir! There are some fantastic photographs and videos on the MERU Facebook pages and on YouTube.

We raised over £3,000 for MERU’s custom made services whilst also raising greater disability awareness both for MERU and in general and gaining lots of new supporters and donors too. It was also a fun way of connecting with some of the disabled children and families MERU has worked with over the years as well as an opportunity to forge new connections within the QEF, especially with their disabled residents and trainees who were able to join us to enjoy the event or even volunteered to help with the event before, during and after.
