We are delighted to announce that the TravelChair has won a prestigious and much sought after award in the aviation industry – a Crystal Cabin Award in the category Passenger Comfort Hardware.

The Crystal Cabin Awards is an international prize for innovations in the field of aircraft cabins. A high calibre judging panel made up of renowned academics, engineers, specialist journalists and airline and aircraft manufacturer representatives comes together under the slogan ‘let your ideas take off’ to honour unusual cabin concepts and products. The award, to date, the only one of its kind, has been presented during the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg every year since 2007. The trophies have become a seal of quality, known and coveted around the world.

Graham Race, MERU designer comments “when we developed the TravelChair, our sole aim was to provide a solution for disabled children to be able to travel in a conventional airline seat. Being the father of a disabled child myself, I understand the importance of air travel to receive vital treatment but many children were unable to use this mode of transport as their needs on the aircraft were not being met. The TravelChair not only offers a unique solution but meets the necessary regulations to enable any airline to be able to purchase it. I am ecstatic that the aviation industry recognises the importance of the product and I never imagined in my wildest dreams it would win this award”.

This is the second award for the TravelChair in six months, having won the BHTA (British Healthcare Trades Association) Independent Living Design Award in December.

Please see our Press Release if you are interested in publishing a story about this fantastic achievement for MERU.
