Thank you to Virgin Atlantic who today became the first airline to purchase 25 new, improved TravelChairs from MERU to offer as part of their service to disabled children flying with them.
The new TravelChairs, which will be delivered to the airline later this month, have been specially designed to provide postural support for disabled children during air travel. It can accommodate children between the ages of 3 – 11 years (depending on height and weight) and offers firm, postural support for a wide range of disabilities.
Virgin Atlantic has been using an earlier version of the TravelChair for many years with fantastic feedback from cabin crew and parents. Parents simply advise the airline of their need to use the TravelChair when making the booking to ensure it is on board for both outbound and inbound flights – all at no extra charge.
Geraldine Lundy, Virgin Atlantic’s Passengers Accessibility Adviser, said:
“We are delighted that we have placed this order for the new TravelChair with MERU.
We’ve used the previous version of the TravelChair for many years to fly hundreds of children with disabilities around the world and we are really pleased to know that we will enable many more children with disabilities to travel safely and comfortably to wherever we fly.
It is a pleasure to work with MERU and the CAA to ensure that these children and their families enjoy what so many people take for granted.”
Passengers wishing to book a flight with Virgin Atlantic can either log onto www.virginatlantic.com or call 0844 20 92 770 to make a reservation, and remember to say at the time of booking if you need a TravelChair.
